1813 – Killegar House, Co. Leitrim

By an unknown architect and incorporating parts of an earlier house to the rear. The majority of the building dates from around 1813 when the owner John Godley married Catherine Daly of Dunsandle, Co. Galway. John Godley also built the church, the school, several cottages and planted magnificent woodlands on the estate. Damaged in a fire in 1970 and rebuilt, it is in need of some restoration work. It is the last Big House in Leitrim still lived in by the descendants of the family who built it.
