Solid large house with many round headed windows on the first floor. Much overlooked by visitors to the Zoo.
The finest building in the zoo, this little gem is still in use and maintained in good condition.
The building of 1898 was surrounded for many years by poor quality extensions, only the architectural detail around the roof and eaves could be discerned.
Double height modernist building designed as an enclosure for elephants. It was intended as a replacement for the old giraffe house which had previously been used.
This is the current entrance building situated just down the road from the two previous entrances to the zoo.
