Don’t want to tread on hallowed ground, but urban cyclists are the biggest bunch of ignorant, self-centred b******s in creation. The nearest I’ve come to being knocked down is by mad cyclists on the pavement. I share your pain, but your argument is with the motorist and you have no right to: (a) cycle on the pavement; (b) jump lights; or (c) cycle at night without lights. But apparently you think you do…
I think your point johnglas is that a disproportionate number of cyclists are aggressive, risk-adverse: mad, but, well have you tried cycling in Dublin, fewer cars, less craziness, more segregated lanes, fewer pedestrians wandering on cycle lanes and sensible junctions and I am sure there would be lots of nice people cycling too and the aggressive mad ones would fall in with an altogether nicer gentler urban cycling culture.
