Bjg, that was a great read.

I now see where you are coming from and I agree, the Limerick Navigation should be branded as an industrial heritage walking route.

Your article must appear in the next edition of the Limerick Journal.

The part before the bridge was built captured my interest the most, where the 1840 map reveals a ferry crossing with six marked buoys.

It was a simple practical idea for the ferry to cross the river relying only on the help of the current.

I thought I would post a sketch on its workings and an example of a reaction ferry from Rathen on the river Elbe, Germany.
