ParticipantCan anyone clear up for me how the Building Regulations are policed in Ireland? How many building control officers do the local authorities have or is it all up to the architect? Any hard facts would be especially useful,
thanks all

InactiveThe Architect does not police, but is legally required to comply with the Building Regulations, although the only evidence required currently is signing a Certificate of Compliance to this effect. There are rumoured to be Building Control Inspectors in local councils but very few people have encountered them.
However, there are talks of change with calculations and evidence of compliance being supplied with planning applications. These will not necessarily be checked for correctness but be available for inspection if required.

i hve heard these rumours but am completely sceptical…
generic calculations mean nothing in planning applications until planning permission are granted based on construction methods…. currently they are not…
