Built using limestone from nearby Tankardstown. Designed by Cork architect S.F. Hynes, construction started in 1922 and the church was dedicated in 1925. The exterior has a distinctive square plan three-stage belfry to one side of the main front. It has a fine interior with stained-glass windows, a well-carved timber roof and marble colonnades.
