Toay the ivy clad ruin of Dunsandle House stands forlorn and neglected in the countryside between Athenry and Loughrea. It was built for the Daly family c.1780, and in its heyday was said to have been the finest house in the county, famed for its neo-classical plasterwork. The saloon had elaborate plasterwork; a coved rococo ceiling in the morning-room; Adamesque ceiling in the drawing-room.

The centre block had three storeys over a basement with five-bay entrance and garden fronts, each with a three-bay pedimented breakfront; joined by long, straight screen walls with pedimented doorways and niches to low and wide-spreading two-storey wings.

The house was sold in 1954, and was largely demolished by 1958.
