Henry H. Hill (1882-1951)

One of the Hill family of architects, practised with his father Arthur Hill (1846-1921) as Arthur & Henry H. Hill from 1909 until Arthur’s death in 1921. He attended Liverpool University and the Royal Academy Schools in London from 1907 to 1910. He lectured on architecture at University College, Cork, and wrote articles on architecture for the Irish Builder and other journals.

Built in the 1920s to the design of architect Henry H. Hill, this building replaced an earlier department store on the site which was burnt in 1920 along with several buildings on the eastern side of St.
