Designed by Anthony Salvin (1799-1881), a distinguished English architect and an expert in fortified architecture. He was involved in the restoration of many castles including the Tower of London and Windsor Castle.
The Royal Southampton Yacht Club is one of the oldest established in England, receiving its Royal Charter in 1875.
Short-lived and eccentric building, opened in 1891 and destroyed by fire in 1915.
Fine club building overlooking the bay. The Club building is listed by the Department of Environment as a building of historic interest.
