Walter G. Doolin (1850-1902)

Walter Glynn Doolin received his architectural training from his father, William Doolin, and in the office of J.J. O’Callaghan and subsequently in London as an assistant in the office of William Burges. Doolin died at his home on 10 March 1902, aged only fifty-two, and was buried at Glasnevin cemetery. After his death the practice was carried on by his partner, Rudolf Maximilian Butler and joined within a few months by James L. Donnelly under the name of Doolin, Butler & Donnelly. Donnelly had left the practice by the spring of 1908, and it reverted to Doolin & Butler until Butler dropped the name Doolin in 1915.

Designed by John Roberts the original structure of this church dates from the late-eighteenth century while the tympanum and other so-called embellishments were added by W.G Doolin in 1890.
