Work on the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel began in 1657 at the prompting of Marguerite Bourgeoys,
Notre-Dame Basilica (French Basilique Notre-Dame de Montréal),
The present building is the congregation’s fourth home.
Designed to replace the former Saint-Jacques Cathedral which had burned in 1852,
