Designed and built between 1870 and 1875 by George Goldie of Goldie & Child, this convent church is still in use today by the order who commissioned it.
Lowther Lodge is immediately south of Hyde Park, and was built between 1872 and 1875.

An architectural competition was announced in January 1878 to design a new church. It was not limited to Catholics, and offered prizes of £200 and £75.
