1883 – Lieutenant Governor’s Residence, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Architect: Thomas Scott, Department of Public Works
In 1870,
In 1870,
Manitoba’s first Legislature building was built facing Kennedy Street,
Built in two stages,
Finished in the ubiquitous stock yellow brick beloved of Winnipeg apartment builders,
The hotel was built around the perimeter of an open courtyard,
Sixteen floors and built to accommodate office suites for medical practitioners,
A 262 bed secure facility facing the city’s Law Courts (the two structures are linked by an underground tunnel which allows for the secure movement of inmates),
Understated modern office development that could perhaps have benefited visually from an extra couple of floors.
