The winning entry in a competition to design a new building for the Cardiff Free Library,
“This building is intended to replace an existing structure erected for a similar purpose about 35 years ago by the munificence of Mr.
Perspective view including ground plans as published in The Building News, February 20th 1885.
Now a boutique hotel, but originally completed in 1903, and was designed by architect Edwin Seward who submitted the winning design out of 97 entries.
William Henry White was born in Bristol on 23 December 1862 and was educated at Bristol Grammar School, later studying at Bristol School of Art.
