J. Tarring & Son

John Tarring (1806–75) was an English Victorian architect principally known for designing Gothic Revival churches for Nonconformist clients. This earned him the nickname “the Gilbert Scott of the Dissenters” for his influential role in adapting Gothic styles. His practice became J. Tarring & Son with his son, Frederick William Tarring (1847-1925), who was articled to his father from 1863, and a partner from c.1868. After his father’s death. Frederick Tarring went into partnership with Robert Stark Wilkinson (1844-1926) as Tarring Son & Wilkinson.
