The Model Schools were erected between 1848 and 1850, the costs of which was funded by Sir John Young,
Austere Model School built by the Board of Public Works in 1860.
Opened in 1861 as a Model National School. Demolished in 1998 after being used by St.
Constructed with Coalisland brick and stone in an Italianate style complete with clock tower. The Model School was part of the national schools programme proposed in 1831 in which each county in Ireland would have at least one school that would serve as an example to other national schools in the area.
Designed in a Jacobean style, the Model School opened in July 1862. One of a ]number of Model Schools around the country,
Italianate school with campanile, finished externally in red and black brick with Portland stone dressings.
