All Souls was commissioned and paid for by the local industrialist Edward Akroyd in 1856,
“In another volume we gave a view of the exterior of Halifax Town-hall,
“This mansion was erected some time ago for Mr. John Croasley, at Manor Heath, about a mile from the town of Halifax,
“Among the many new and handsome structures erected of late years in the town of Halifax,
Erected at the cost of Col. Akroyd and published in The Building News, May 11th 1877.
Originally founded in 1585, and called The Free Grammar School of Queen Elizabeth at Heath,
