Designed and built between 1870 and 1875 by George Goldie of Goldie & Child, this convent church is still in use today by the order who commissioned it.
An architectural competition was announced in January 1878 to design a new church. It was not limited to Catholics, and offered prizes of £200 and £75.
The chancel and transepts were erected, together with a great central tower by George Goldie in the early 1860s.
