A competition entry to design a glebe house for Rathmines.
Destroyed by fire in 1894. A description published in 1875: “The premises now erecting for Messrs.
This building was built as part of the vast outer wall of the Guinness complex north of James Street.
A fine bridge leading to the Phoenix Park tunnel which links Heuston Station to Connolly Station via Cabra and which is now mainly used for freight trains.
Started in the early 1870s to a design by G.C.
Built 1871-75 to designs by William Hague for Patrick McCabe Fay &
Elaborate stucco facade marks out this public house from the rest of the street –
“The illustration in our present number is another design for the proposed Glebe House at Rathmines,
Orginally built in 1875, with some minor additions in 1879,
