15th C. – Brown’s Castle, Dublin Approximately where Cornmarket is now, Brown’s Castle was better known as the Black Dog prison. The castle became a tavern from which the prison got its name.
1775 – The Marshalsea, Dublin Built near the rear of Bridgefoot Street and Bonham Street to replace an earlier Marshalsea between Christ Church Cathedral amd Wood Quay.
1794 – Debtors Prison, Green Street, Dublin The former Debtors Prison on Green Street is adjacent to the current Courthouse and site of Newgate Gaol. It is a U-shape in plan with the two arms visable from the rear on Halston Street.
