This headquarters building was commissioned by the Canadian General Electric Company, which was founded in the late 19th century to manufacture and distribute electrical equipment during the period when electrical power was first generated for commercial and residential use.
In 1905, after the original Unity Church burned down, the Unitarian congregation of Oak Park,
Demolished to make way for the Irish Life Centre which stretched through from Abbey Street.
Published in The Building News, November 20th 1908. For a time, used for services after the main church across the street was demolished due to dry rot.
