The inscription reads:
“In memory of Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria,
Not constructed as illustrated.
Constructed 1904 in red and cream coloured brick,
Later known as the Brandon Art Club and eventually the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba,
Whitewell Lodge, listed Grade II,
Yorkshire Penny Bank and Bank Chambers,
Not completed as designed due to the amount of money available,
Chosen after an architectural competition in 1904.
