1890 Confederation Life Competition

Adjudicated by J.W. Hopkins, of Montreal, with eighteen architects entered the competition, a number of whom are residents of American cities. Three out of the five prizes offered were awarded to Canadian architects, the first position and the carrying out of the work being given to Knox, Elliot & Jarvis, of Toronto, and third and fourth positions to Jas. Balfour, of Hamilton, and Alfred Flockton, of Montreal, respectively. James & James, of New York, carried off the second prize.
