1976 – St Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Killyleagh, Co. Down
Architect: Michael Curran, McLean & Forte
A strong geometric design, a largely flat roofed building intersecting with two triangular prisms, one as the main entrance to the street, and one to admit light into the body of the church. It has a rather bizarre interior. The church is set on a small, paved area and the brick walls surrounding carry the prism scheme with their zigzag tops. The blessing of the church was on Sunday 1st February 1976, with the total cost more than £180,000.
