1829 – St. Mary’s Church, Innishannon, Co. Cork
Samuel Lewis mentions the church is his Topographical Dictionary of 1837, “the chapel was built at an expense of £1500, in 1829, on a site of two acres presented by E. Hale Adderley, Esq.” The spire was added circa 1875, and according to the Cork Examiner in 1942, was the spire of old St Luke’s Church, Cork, purchased by parish priest at Innishannon and re-erected at here. The tower and spire with its variation in stone colour is quite a striking addition to the simple exterior of the church. The interior has a wonderful vaulted ceiling, spiral staircase to the organ loft, and stained glass manufactured in Germany.
