Hollein, Hans (b.1934)

Born 1934 in Vienna, Austria. Hans Hollein is an independent architect and artist with realisations in a.o. Austria, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Spain, Russia, USA, Peru and Japan. 1967-1979 he was Professor at the Duesseldorf Academy. 1976-2002 Professor at the University of Applied Art in Vienna where he was also Dean of the Architecture Department. he taught as Guest Professor at Yale, Washington University, University of California, Los Angeles, (UCLA) and Ohio State University.

He has received numerous Prizes and Awards a.o. the exte Mappe and his work is in the Collection of many leading Museums of the world. He is a.o. President of the Austrian Art Senate and Chairman of the Advisory Board of city planning in Vienna. He was Austrian Comissionner for the Art Biennale Venice 1978-1990, and for Architecture 1991, 1996, 2002 and was Director of the Architecture Section of the Biennale Venice 1994-1996.
