If they tore down the Aghada power plant instead of one of the others – its a magnificent site for a hotel.

One thing that I noticed was that going over the Kinsale Road Roundabout flyover, the current height plus one floor would be the exact height of the hills behind. Methinks that came into the height decision. It does not take from the hills behind and is a perfect height given the view.

Those would be in the future a bit further and seperate altogether as neither of them are on the Midleton line 🙂

Well he’s a tit and a great representative of the ‘Green’ party.

Fair enough I guess, but why bother with the lights at all?

I wouldn’t be surprised if nothing more was said/heard about an upgrade of that route.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS have gone in at Amgen plant.

You read that right, mainline traffic lights where Amgen were supposed to be 🙁 🙁 🙁

The third one would cost an unnatural amount of money and would look far worse than the M3 will as it currently will be.

I think the Greens may be useful – for want of a better word they will keep an eye on FF, and will bring otherwise unseen problems to the attention of the media.

Even though they mightnt have the numbers, they can whistle-blow a lot of FF crap that may or may not go on.

Amsterdam has overhead lines for their trams. Looks perfectly fine.

A lot better than the mishmash of ESB and phone wires floating everywhere over here, anyway.

Get rid of the wires, replace them with overhead tram lines. Easy.

This is the pic that was in the paper recently- part of an Irishman’s Diary from the Sat 4th Feb Irish Times. Apologies for the quality but the image is pretty small in the original.
    (No photographer’s name attached.)

I know its an old pic to quote, but damn does that ever look like a railway station.

Might need a bit of trickery but is certainly do-able. The Amsterdam ones take surprisingly tight bends without a hitch.

Yeah it’ll be interesting but I think it might work 😀

Pity about the lack of N20 to Childers road access, but I can see why they’re doing it.

Maybe I’m wrong but word from many in the industry despite pre election propaganda.. amgen alot more than a put back date…. if anyone has better news would love to hear it..

I passed there yesterday and they had put up part of a central median and some streetlights in the middle. No where near the layout you’d expect for a flyover 🙁

It is proposed to reserve a corridor for dedicated segregated public transport along the Centre Park Road and Mill Road, to ‘future proof it from significant retrofitting costs, that would be incurred if the route was not reserved, free from development at this stage.

Good. Start reserving alignments where possible.

    Hi All,
Just for those of you travelling on the N25 today, we are back to the one lane each way between Carrigtwohill and Midleton. On this, I thought that an overpasss was to be constructed?I hear now they are constructing a signalised T junction, great news isn’t it on a dual carriageway?! Especially one as busy as this is..:o

Hmmmm. I remember this was all supposed to be upgraded to overpasses, but now that Amgen have put the date back I dunno. Traffic lights there would be daft beyond belief. Just put the overpasses in plz.

This is a farce, plain and simple.

These things are NOT trams in any way, shape or form. They are LONG BUSES.

This trial will be a disaster. Although it will be used, they will be chronically filled, they will get stuck in traffic, and unless Cork City Council get rid of that utterly stupid “Bus lane for rush hour only” nonsense, they will not go anywhere.

After visiting Holland I am all for a tram system in Cork, it was wonderful over there. None of this bus-tram nonsense. Its a BUS, not a tram. Dont market it as such.

Now if the country was well planned, the council would buy up freed land at Tivoli and stick a P&R in there.

Passing through Limerick today I noticed that one of the Georgian buildings on Catherines Street (I think) not only had plaster falling off the side but had visible holes in the wall – ie: bricks missing. Plus there were huge subsidence cracks in the front of it.
