Someone please have a picture of the gutted Point 😀 I hated that place so much that a picture of the ruins would be very satisfying 😀

I doubt it would be cheaper TBH, cos you need more drivers. And they’re the expensive bit 🙁

Fingers crossed that’ll be shot down 😀 Completly over the top for the area and ugly to boot.

Or the mad walk to gate A60, without one of those ‘walk faster travellator things’. Wouldnt want to be an old person trying to do that.

I dont know about a Terminal 2, seems to me that with current capacity (and the fact that Gatwick manages fine), that Terminal 1 should be bulldozed and replaced by a proper one. Two terminals seems unnecessary, but I suppose its at least planning for the future built.

I hope its not remembered without a big change, because it was rubbish.

I dont mean to boast, but “mine was better”. Its in the Cork transport thread and makes a whole lot more logical sense than the tripe the Greens came up with.

Although I’m a fan of high-rise and associated stuff, that City Library proposal is so out of touch with the surrounding buildings that its ridiculous.

So whats the deal with this traveler thing?

Not sure what/where, but apparently theres murder going on because some residents (Nimbys) fought a highrise development. Now the developer has paid travelers to go onto the site and make a goddamn mess.

Thats all I know, anyone know more or can link to something?

I really hope they get planning for the fountain. Thats the kind of unique and original thinking we need in Ireland at the moment.

Great idea, would look great if combined with plenty of lighting for nighttime displays.

Though this made me laugh –

he proposal, made by two men including a city-based dentist

Yeah they need to improve public access to it because I’ve never heard of it before, let alone seen it, and I’ve been living near Cork for I dont know how long.

    Where is it?

    Green light for Lismullen excavation
    listen Wednesday, 22 August 2007 16:31

An Bord Pleanála has cleared the way for archaeological work to commence on the National Monument at Lismullen in Co Meath, which lies in the path of the M3 motorway.

The decision means that the site, which is close to the Hill of Tara, will be examined by archaeologists before the road is constructed on top of it.

The National Monument at Lismullen consists of two circular enclosures, the largest 80m in diameter, and dates from somewhere between 1000 BC and 400 AD.

Last month, the National Roads Authority submitted its plans to preserve the site ‘by record’. This means the NRA will examine it in detail and then build the M3 over it.

In its decision, An Bord Pleanála gave the NRA the green light because the plan did not constitute a material alteration to the M3 scheme which it had already approved.

An Bord Pleanála had been the last hurdle to be overcome for the controversial proposal. And the decision will come as a big relief to both the NRA and Meath County Council.

However, the news will be a big disappointment to protestors who hoped the Bord might have demanded a new environmental impact assessment.
