Participanti’m nothing if not resourceful. anything else i have is pretty strictly copyrighted. try google.ie and just lash in “cork aerial”, “cork city aerial”, and other combinations.
also, go to “search by map” on http://www.myhome.ie and if you zoom in far enough to cork you can see aerial views of the city out as far as glounthane.

Participanthere’s an aerial

Participantfair play to HH, they’ve done their homework. extending o’connell street and pushing people up the hill with the church as a focal point would be interesting to see.

SW101 – were you given a bad crit by DIT??
😉 there ya go.
it just rankles a bit that this temporary structure will be in situ until it rots. rankles, so it does.
sw101
Participantthey also had a student design competition for the front of the AIB branch in the basement. it wouldn’t suggest any architecture was being taught on the premises.
sw101
Participanti don’t see why we should be congratulating DIT for having the supposed generosity for allowing some cheapo, donated wood and glue stuck up in the public areas of the college.

Participantanyone know if this has been erected in fitzgeralds park yet? the lecture is scheduled for may 5th at 6pm in the opera house. entry is free but ticketed, tickets available from the opera house box office from tomorrow onwards (021 427 0022 )
sw101
Participantas far as i can remember it was a student competition. it’s made with the highest quality plywood and untreated timber. if i smoked anymore i’d stand out in the rain in protest.

Participantbolton street. in the courtyard of the extension beside the duckpond. i’m almost tempted to go over and take some colour snaps to prove how bleedin’ ugly it is.
sw101
Participantit looks bad in b&w, looks bad in colour, but looks far worse in the flesh. poor effort.
sw101
Participantthat thing is a cheap abomination.

Participanti’d adapt the chav-away spray used in parts of britain to eliminate skangers. skang-away, maybe.

😡 Clayton Love Jnr’s Douglas Central Properties have seen their plans for an 8-storey, 124 bedroom hotel in the heart of Douglas refused planning. The building, designed by the Hyde Partnership, was to have seen the development of the hotel facility on lands between Cinema World and the East Douglas Village – with east-west frontages facing Douglas Court S.C. and Douglas Village S.C. respectively. Mr. Love expressed his disappointment at the decision taken by Cork County Council planners.
Considerations are now under assessment as to whether or not the developer will appeal or revised the proposal and resubmit a fresh application.
Reasons regarding height, spatial issues, overshadowing and overdevelopment were all cited as purposes behind the refusal.

300 people are going to sleep in a fire hazard hostel on Gardiner street tonight despite the fact that everyone is aware of its non-compliance with fire regulations. The link looks pretty clear to me.
it’s pretty alarming alright. why can’t the filth just go over there right now, shut the place down and arrest whoever is in charge?

Great little discussion going but wonder if someone may be able to point me to where i may be able to get the full article on the conversion.
