i’ve built houses with floor to ceiling heights exceeding 11′ (3.3m). can’t imagine why it would be a problem. are you sure you’re reading it right? quote it here if possible.

the boardwalk could be added without affecting the balustrade. the boardwalk level is below the pavement level normally s the visual effect on the balustrade from the oppostie bank would be minimal.

could we do a wolfe tones on it and nominate archiseek for a load of awards? make sure everyone we know votes for it and make it a matter of irish pride that we win.

does the examiner have an award for “best website” or “best source of info for lazy journo’s”?

    i nominate myself.

i also nominate myself for the most self-centred and egocentric poster here.

i also propose a best looking archiseeker award. you’ll never guess my nomination.

sw101 – do you have an images you could share of the ‘Gallery’ you design which helms some resemblance to the DAT Partnerships building? 😮

i threw out that portfolio years ago. utter rubbish. who are DAT partnerships, architects?

it looks like an art gallery i did in second year. or at least a bad elevation of what i designed. and what’s with the go-faster fin on the right hand side?

The innovative CentrePoint, 9-storey office development by DAT Partnerships. To give you some perspective, this image is shows the western elevation, with No.6 Lapps Quay to the left (south), the Bus Station to the right (north) and Oyster Developments proposal to the west (behind the CentrePoint building). It will be important for the Oyster proposal not to detract from this new building either.

i can’t get my head around this thing at all. any better images?

Like so many other threads this has deconstructed into smart alex like behaviour of people who should know better. Twenty8 asked some pertinent questions which have been lost in the foray into slagging. The difficulty that many clients have in choosing the correct advice for a project they will probably only undertake once in their lives is not something to be belittled. Especially in an aesthetic environment that is so undifferentiated as Ireland. Especially where there is no registration and no enforcement of basic Building regulations.

it’s too early in the morning for that sort of ranting.

It’s a broad question to ask, but roughly how much would an architect charge for designing an ‘average’ 4-bed 2000 sq ft house?
    Is €45-50,000 about standard?

from inception to completion, somewhere around 30 grand.
