you mupp, sam stephenson is god-awfully awful. mupp.

be sure and put tom de paor on that list.

dont mind the awards points system. thats more a measure of a projects profile and exposure, as well as having your mate president at any given stage.

    good morning btw

not pretty. not particularly functional looking either. is that gallery access i see?

compared to shay cleary’s work on the cork county hall this is abysmal

i’m in cork really, but i’m heading up that way next weekend, i’ll try and squeeze it in.

it looks great in elevation (judging from the model), the proportions complimenting the building next door, but some of those shots make it look terribly blocky and imposing. Needs the justice of a decent photographer or a viewing in the flesh methinks

what exactly is an taisces position on one-off housing? are they just against it in general or insistent on higher standards?

i had a client approach me after the new year looking for a design for an exposed rural site. he had a small engineering firm draw up a pokey americana pile from a rough sketch he made, and the planner had one look and told him to bugger off and find an architect, recommending me 🙂 visited the site and had a look around. given the rubbish thats been thrown up on the cliffs and hills there in the last 10 years i’m amazed all the planners arent blind. still, never too late for taste to take a hold on em. my options now are to dig a pit and fill it with house, or just give it a big grassy dome roof and lower the eaves to knee height. love my job.

    an taisce, please, be gentle

without being too personal, i imagine miss clerkin and bowler are pretty pissed about this. do an taisce have public accounts to prove their financial position or are they just jerking the knee and looking for attention?

Dunno about dublin but i hope all the regional offices are put forward as open competitions. Great oppurtunities there for young firms. FKL and BoydCody stand out as having done well out of such competitions in recent years

i’m not sure supportive is what i’d aim for here alan. my opinion and others is what i’d like to exchange and consider. i simply expressed a passing resemblance between your facade and that of a building i admire. problem?

if you’re looking for support you should probably go to your client or hire some yes men. i’m just going to give you my biased architectural opinion.
