i’m hoping that was the dublin office of mola that came up with the “master” plan. cake anyone? yick…

if they go ahead with producing such repetitive tat of the type found all over dublins river banks i might just have to leave

An Taisce do not compile the list of protected structures this is the function of the Councils, however An Taisce has been known to draw the proposed elimination of protected structures to the attention of who ACTUALLY make the decisions on planning.

those who actually make the decision on planning in relation to protected structures are well aware as to their protected status…they do however have the oppurtunity to allow development or replacement of these structures where appropriate

Office vacancy rates are 15% and there are massive developments in retail going up on Lee side, that argument is a crock

15% vacancy(even though it’s not accurate) can never be a deciding factor in refusing permission for office development. modern attractive offices will attract 100% occupany and drag up the percentages in a general area. filling up a few more thousand square metres of rented floor space is much more achievable than ramming businesses into the vacant 15%, which is invariably the dregs of the available space.

How many six storey modern spec buildings currently exist at this location?

few…and it’s a poor reflection on the development plan and planning policies in the area that this is so. i assure you it’s not for the want of trying on the part of the developers/architects concerned

Going by Liffey Valley Cork developers have about as much vision as Ben Dunne that is why developments have been red carded, if architectural standards rose to say Shay Cleary’s level you might get more quality buildings,

“Cork developers” is such an idiotic generalisation that this comment deserves less than my derision.

once again you’ve shown yourself to be a high-lighter of patently obvious and previously-discussed problems diaspora…one day i’m sure you’ll come through with the solution…but probably not in my lifetime

have you gotten paid, that’s what i wanna know…;)

just wait a few months and you’ll see some bogshite engineer will throw in planning for some semi-d half-assed conservation and retention effort with an awful layout, and the feckin planners will lap it up

    no

its all about sponsorship and exposure…you highlighting the point here is only helping o2’s case.

remember there’s no such thing as bad publicity. go and object if it bothers you so much. i can’t see much harm in what they’re doing

open up a new viewport in paper space (VP followed by enter)

enter model space in this new viewport and enter 3d orbit mode (either the green circle on the toolbar, or select the view menu on top and select 3d orbit)

then rightclick inside the yellow circle and select “projection”…then click on “perspective”. zoom around using the roller on your mouse to zoom and pan

when you have the right view setup, go into the page setup and click on the “hide objects” option on the bottom right hand corner

when you go to plot now you should have a solid-looking 3d object along with your 2d stuff

    “seen”…i’m sure

i imagine there couldn’t be upward limits, it would depend on the site, proposal, mood of the planner, current thinking on how tall dublin should go, and the thickness of the wad in the brown envelope

the city centre is too run run down and under developed to be architecturally impressive beyond the wallpaper that is beth galli’s work on patrick street. the school of music would have been the jewel in the crown of the gate, opera, and….well, that’s it really…

had my show up last night, they take web shots of it and create a webpage for you, and you can watch it live on webcam. this is an excellent piece of installation work. very involving and dynamic as a piece of ephemeral architecture. kudos

The AAI is very much self-serving and most members and also the former presidents i know would admit as such, just maybe not in public. No harm though. We are a small nation and a fairly tiny architectural community.

I love Dominic Stevens house with the concrete fence posts used as vertical enclosure. Genius, and very beautiful

today my immoral practices have included lying to two clients, playing engineers against each other to get lower fee quotes out of them, and screwing my boss out of money by wasting his time on archiseek 🙂

So is it progress you can reveal or is it top secret?

I’d like to see it go ahead to be honest. Could be the start of great things for you over here…

…and i’m well contained don’t you worry. Thats not going to happen in public (again)

Brilliant. They’re all mates. They all take turns being head of the AAI. They frequently pass awards around to each other like smarties. And now one of them is after infiltrating the heady heights of the dubliner magazine. Good for them.

Incidently i know or am associated with at least one person from each of those firms. I’m off to namedrop all over town 🙂
