ParticipantI think this is terrible news. I know that from siptu’s point of view it makes sense but this is an iconic building for Dublin. It should be listed not demolished.
I would like to see it restored. Maybe a cafe-bar on the top two floors aswell, so the public could enjoy the views. Well they still have to get through planning before its gone.

ParticipantI’m just wondering when the street is going to be finished!
Half the lights from the spire to the top have never worked. Also the ones in the middle opposite Easons were damaged by a fire during the riot and have never worked since. The sodium lights on the buildings at the top end are still lighting the street as the new lights dont work. Its months since the street was supposed to be completed.
I really want to see the street at night with all the new lights working and the old sodium ones turned off. Only then can one really judge the success of the street at night.

ParticipantIts not even proper cobble lock. Its a material they pour and then the pattern is made when its still soft. You can see that if you lok at the edge where it hits the normal road surface on the top photo.
Havig said that its probably better to use this on the road anyway as cobble lock often becomes loose even after only a small amount of traffic.- AuthorPosts
