according to a report undertaken in [somewhere in asia] alcohol consumption can make you more intelligent
seamasParticipantthe spike certainly is dramatic, but elegant / modern ?
i’m just worried that the spike will look silly up beside the GPO. once the initial novelty has worn off everyone will be wishing they hadn’t bothered with it.
about nelson’s pillar being the focal point of o’connell st, that is a bit ludicrous. the pillar was a bit of an eyesore, not to mention totally out of place in an irish cityseamasParticipantcouch-potato-callery
that’s quite an essay you wrote there john callery…but again, what are you going to do about it? sadly, you’re just an armchair activist.
i agree with you, and yes i do think the paramilitaries and the disidents need to accept responsibility for these matters, as the rest of us are far too busyseamasParticipantthis is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE
i’m suprised they’re not going to build another “Milennium Spike” right next to Kilmainham gaol. and why not??? they want to put one beside the GPO
seamasParticipanthas anyone seen the white horse? what an absolute kip!!!
many modern irish pubs are a disgrace and an insult to everything our ancestors fought against.
the all-sports bar in temple bar should have its licence revoked. its walls are adorned by the english national soccer jersey.
the owner should be locked up in the dungeon of kilmainham gaol…
to be continuedseamasParticipantthankfully the IRA blew up nelson’s pillar. instead of considering what we should put up, why not look more closely at other things we should pull down. the corpo should invest the money set aside for the spike in setting up a new organisation who’s job it is to do away with similar offensive eyesores. any suggestions?
what’s the big deal about having a monument anyway? whatever gets erected will just date terribly like much of ireland’s modern architecture
