roskavParticipant
Is it true that a lot of the city centre sites are being sat on by developers who are buying up the properties as the leases run out?
Every time I go to Cork I am amazed at how dodgy most buildings look around patrick st. grand parade and so on. It seems as if the boom passed cork by.
On a more positive note – keep your eyes trained on UCC – a lot of interesting stuff going on there.roskavParticipantChill out guys
roskavParticipantApologies Plumber for my last comment – I actually thought the whole thing was a joke. Good luck in your meeting.
roskavParticipantIt preturbs me to think that they would use a human shield of schoolchildren to protect against an attack against what would definitley be a strategic node of suburban Dublin.
roskavParticipantYou could check out Duffy Mitchell’s winning scheme for Darndale civic Centre. It has quite a large childcare element as part of the scheme.
roskavParticipantThere’s a lot more to the building than initially meets the eye. The facade is drawn taut over a combination of shops, restaurants, voids and apartments. The accomodation is reached through the vertical slit shown in the attached pictures, (if I manage to send them OK) this leads to an exterior stair and a series of landings.
I think it is one of the most underrated buildings in Temple Bar. – But there you go – maybe the facade is doing it’s job.roskavParticipantTry the V – eamesy / wallpapery house behind a grass berm just outside Westport on the left towards Luisberg – Finished about a year ago – v photogenic.
roskavParticipantJust be as stylish as you can Catherine
roskavParticipantI’m going to see if I can get in to photograph the place in the new year…
If you want any of the images for your work you can email me at roskavanagh@eircom.netroskavParticipanthave you checked out issue 3 (i think) of building material published by the AAI? It’s got pictures of a “gallery” space built using big red barn methods. Doesn’t have much to say (as far as I remember) about its relationship to the landscape….
roskavParticipantWow – what a great subject for your masters..
How does one get in there? I’d love to take pictures of it. -
