I kinda like Fitzwilton House too.
PepsiParticipantPepsiParticipantI see what you mean.
PepsiParticipantAre those red slabs for real or are they just testing them out at the moment? I’m not sure about the quality of those ones shown above.
PepsiParticipantI heard someone mention that the new Smithfield Tower is either 12 or 13 storeys in height. From looking at that link above and from looking at it in reality it seems to only have 7 storeys including the ground floor. Where is this 12/13 floors coming from?

I agree, an excellent landbank in a great posistion and plenty of land. Strange for such a large schme there is little or no information on it. Typically the 16 storey building is being appealed however I think this area is suited to such development and the hotel thats nearly completed does look very impressive:rolleyes:
I am not saying that the buildings are very impressive. The amount of construction work going on in the area is though. It’ll be very different in years to come.
PepsiParticipantLet’s not forget Heuston Gate too.
PepsiParticipantI like them all myself and 2010 is not far off now.
PepsiParticipantThe Spire would have to be one. I like it but it could do with a good clean. I guess all the dirt from construction work going on in the area doesn’t help. It looks good with daylight bouncing off it.
PepsiParticipantI like the new 100m version of the U2 Tower.
PepsiParticipantInteresting stuff. Cheers. It’s the only high rise building that I don’t know much about.
PepsiParticipantWhat sort of shops will they have here I wonder?
PepsiParticipantIt was designed at roughly 78.4m in the begining according to my research. When the entry won we were all told it would be roughly 78.4m high. The height has been changed three times so.

I was out there recently and was pleased to see what is happening. One of those buildings that they are working on at the moment is massive. It’s the perfect spot.
PepsiParticipantThe competition entry that won a couple of years ago was to be taller than 60m. That link says that it was to be 60m but now they want it to be 100m. It is very confusing. I know about all the other high rise buildings that are in the pipeline. Why have they changed this buildings height so much?
PepsiParticipantI thought I heard something about that but I am not sure. I haven’t a clue as to the height of it. I just know that it will be taller than what we already have.
PepsiParticipantIt’s just hard to see these high rise projects really happening when so many of them have been rejected in the past.
PepsiParticipantThey seem to be playing around with the height of the U2 Tower. As for Heuston Gate, I heard that it is currently under appeal and that is after it getting planning permission. Planning permission was given several months ago.
PepsiParticipantI personally can’t see the U2 Tower or Heuston Gate being built at all, not with the attitude that exists out there.
