    The “Dubliners” exhibition in the National Photographic Archives on Meetinghouse Square / Rory Gallagher Corner is worth seeing too.

    Its going to look brilliant, and am really looking forward to using it again… it always made me smile crossing it…. because of the slope, people couldnt barge across it and it seemed more civilised than the other bridges….

    I would never ever dream of going down the route the Irish Times are rumoured to be going down…..

    I have applied fro Heritage Council funding to keep the site running so we should know in early april

    The following are the results of the Architectural Association of Ireland¹s AAI Awards 2001 ­ the seventeenth in the series of annual awards for excellence in architectural design ­ which were adjudicated on Friday, 30th November.

    There were 122 applications and 121 entries received by the deadline ­ the highest numbers ever for the AAI Awards. All were deemed eligible.

    The AAI AWARDS 2002 exhibition will open in Dublin, in March 2002; it will also tour to other venues around the country.

    Downes Bronze Medal

    The Downes Bronze Medal may be awarded at the discretion of the Assessors.

    have you managed to track down the original architects? their firms files may be owned by another firm now and it may be possible to get drawings from their successors…

    Absolutely… really looking forward to having the regular updates and variety of information that Shane’s columns will bring to the site. We’ll be introducing a search engine specifically for that area of the site for accurate results.

    The scaffolding is coming off at the moment… was in town and you can now see the nice view of the Custom House from the Millienium Bridge again…..

    I have them but “Circulation of these results is restricted to entrants and members of the AAI until the exhibition in March 2002. All press coverage of the AAI Awards 2002 will be held back until then.”

    I think I would have peferred the old line of the street to be reinstated so you glimpse the side of City Hall and the AIB instead of seeing their full side. Afterall they were designed to be glimpsed rather than be fully exposed.

    I wouldnt regard Ryans of Queen Street as intact, the whole wooden partition has been removed so its part of the pub proper now.
