yeah, so as it turns out it is qbc with a bus stop in the middle of the road according to today’s times. i don’t get it really. still a pity to break up the road like this.

gardiner’s mall was area along the middle of the street surrounded by a low wall and for walking around in finery, is that right? did you have to pay to get in? i would have to agree with Graham and wonder if there is a need for it.

isn’t the problem now that the dublin logo is indistinguishable from the leinster logo, but then i guess the problem now is that dublin is indistinguishable from leinster. why the flames by the way?

this article also mentioned that the ddda had parted company with benson and forsythe, that’s disappointing, i hadn’t heard and was assuming that this building was going ahead. do they have a replacement design?

sure, we have to pay for it and it comes out of taxes, but why not out of income taxes. it is fair, progressive and easier to collect. why have a seperate revenue raising system for rubbish collection? it’s silly and dangerous, once you link a councils income to the wealth of its inhabitants, you reinforce divisions in society. rubbish today, schools tomorrow. seperate fixed charges make no sense. unless you are metering, take the money out of income taxes.

sorry for the rant, but i find the whole thing so stupid.

so the thing about nyc is that it is missing a subway line along 1st av and they have been talking about it for a million years and getting nowhere and when after a million years of talking about a rail link to jfk they finally built it, it stops on long island so you still have to change to the subway. the difference between here and nyc as far as getting stuff done is concerned is that they have more money and less space.

Does anyone know why Parnell is wearing two coats?

I love the text on the Parnell and Larkin monuments, it always makes me feel hopeful that we celebrate these sentiments on our main street.

so shaggy, the thing that always struck me is that skateparks don’t have to be in parks, is that right? i mean, when this issue of putting a skatepark in the middle of dublin comes up, everyone gets fearful that that means quarter pipes in stephen’s green, but I always imagined that you could a skate park in places that are unsuitable as a public park, on top of a multistory car park for example. is that true, or do would you prefer part of a park at a cost to being somewhere less central?

true, i forgot the usher which i like a lot and i forgot wilde in color marble which is great too. nothing for beckett apart from the plaque by the onometer on the pier, maybe there should be something done for the centerary. the new plaza by the enterance to the castle is supposed to have a subterranian room viewed from the pavement and earmarked for a bloomdays tribute, always thought it sounded more suitable for a beckett tribute myself.

the problem with you alan d is you come from somewhere without a spike, so you still see the spike debate in yes/no terms, here we have a spike so the debate has matured: what sort of shot-peening, what sort of lighting, should it be gold? that kind of thing.
