Participantnot if portugal is in western europe.

ParticipantGood question Graham, the map:
http://www.transport.ie/upload/general/7048-5.pdf
looks like O’Connell St, Western Way, Broadstone, and then the cutting north out of broadstone as far as liffey junction.
Not sure about all the details but what an exciting plan! DART to Maynooth! DART to Kildare! Metro to the airport! Metro and Luas for West Dublin! Luas for DIT! Metro for DCU! Interconnector! Commuter service for Athenry! Athenry to Ennis! Athenry to Tuam! Amazing stuff.

Participantactually the news website I got that from seems to have changed its mind and is now saying two metros, one to the airport linking dcu etc, another to west dublin. i don’t know, i guess it will be clear in a few hours.

Participantso its all a big suprise – luas to the airport first and then the metro taking a more westerly route not joining up dcu and so on!

ParticipantIts a stupid plan, its such a privelege to have everyday, routine, use of the GPO in its finery: turning it into a museum takes it from a part of the city frabric and turns it into a set-peice, diminishing it. How great it is still in its original use, how silly to loose that. If we want a dedicated museum to the rising, what about the customs house, not currently accessible to the ordinary pedestrian, so we gain, and, well we could have a museum of the civil war there to and maybe even a tourist centre.

Participanthey, i didn’t take it as a personal attack, i read archiseek off the front page so i just hadn’t noticed there was a seperate planning forum. how long does a section 5 usually take?

ParticipantSorry about the wrong forum – its not an advertizement, does that make a difference?

ParticipantA few years ago there was talk of recladding these to make them more vertical, less horizonal in appearance, also, I think, to split them into two buildings, with different claddings and a passage between to castle, what happened to that?

Participantat the moment there is no permanent encyclopedic exhibition of post ww2 irish art anywhere.

Participantyes but we end up owning the pictures. this is another example of how useful the heritage scheme is.

ParticipantIn the TCD car park by Nassau Street there is a plaque, a bit worn, to someone who died in 1916, what makes it unusual is that this person died fighting against the rising.
on the subject of statues of nazis, sean russell in fairview park is still missing his head!

ParticipantThe old quad building in UCG has a big lion and unicorn hidden in the garden behind the building: it was on the building but they took it of and hid it.

Participanttypical old bookshop, fun to visit but really hard to find books there; easier to use their website. now charlie byrnes nearby, must be the best second hand bookshop in ireland.

Participantso i said this already but i am amazed there has been less discussion on the topic:
a) a curved walkway means no moving walkway!
b) it appears to obscure the airside view of the old terminal!notjim
