ParticipantDoes anyone know what the time scale is after this week when the oral hearing finishes? How long do An Bord Pleanala take to come to a decision generally?

GOOD ! don’t know why he had to look to an english firm for help though, plenty of young firms here capable of producing something interesting.
Isn’t this the 3rd attempt? 1st was bland and the 2nd one (i.e. current version) wasn’t any better…

Is its just me or does that look like some form of concrete foundation that has been laid over in the far left corner…. and i think this is exactly where the tower will go ?
I’m purely an interested layman so i’m curious as to what that could be….NeilA

“We will do a major repainting of the bridge later this year,†said Barry Kenny, a spokesman for Iarnrod Eireann. “We are very happy that this is all resolved. All the ads are going, and the bridge is being restored to its former glory.â€
Still no sign of the re-paint happening… Anyone heard anything about this?

I believe there is a crane being erected right in the middle of the site. Can anyone confirm?
There seems to be a crane (albeit not a very tall one) right on the footprint of where the tower will go – think its only gone up in the last week so….

Yes, I was down that direction couple of weeks back and they’ve made a lot of progress with the new square… and it also looks like they have started on the Mateus Hotel….

ParticipantThanks for the pictures of the bakery – my curiousity has been well satisfied. And i agree – it was a shame that the need was felt to “modernize” it….

ParticipantIt does look from the map that the building was where the car park of the Treasury Building is now….. Even more confused than I was before as I’m sure I have read that the Treasury Building was a reclad of the Bolands Bakery.
BTW, I think the original architect of Bolands Bakery was John Stevenson who was also responsible for the recently knocked Wiggins Teape Building on East Wall Rd….

Lotts, I think this is the building that was being referred to:
You are right about the Fantasyjack webpage. It is great.
Yeah thats the one I was looking for alright…. just curious as to what it looked like before it was renovated – anyone remember?…. I assume it didn’t have any of the merit of the Bolands Mill building or they wouldn’t have been allowed to make changes?…… Or am I being naive

ParticipantSlightly off topic…. but does anyone have a picture of what Bolands Bakery on Grand Canal Street used to look like i.e. prior to it becoming the Treasury Building?

ParticipantIs it just me or are the new buildings on the south side of the river staring to look quite well? Admittedly they are not stunningly new or original buildings but a big improvement on the existing stuff i.e. IFSC Phase 2 etc….
Any thoughts?NeilA

does this mean that the whole project will be built on that carpark? i have to pop down to the site soon, has anyone been there recently. I am quite excited about this development as there might be a tallish tower rising by next year! has anyone got any more info on this? or where can i find anything?
There’s not too much to see going on down there just yet – they seem to be just clearing the site. Does anyone know if Crosbie got final planning permission for the tower itself?

ParticipantNo pictures on the board just a line mentionin the Point Village.

ParticipantA bit of activity around the Point today (and a board has appeared mentioning something about Point Village)… looks like it may be starting…
Does anyone know exactly how much of the land around the Point grounds that Crosbie owns? Does he own the site to the left on the river front?
