So much for “I’m not going to add any more to this thread”. Some people never stick to their word. Pitty.

It wasn’t meant that way. Never mind.

Why is such a building so important then? If it is so important why is it in ruins? It looks out of place where it is. Maybe they should move it down the road to St Stephen’s Green. I’d be more concerned with say, them wanting to demolish the GPO, the High Court, Christchurch… These sort of buildings are not being demolished though and that is why I say there could be far more important things to worry about. I would hardly call my small remarks babble.

ctesiphon, yes I have heard of duty of care. That is exactly what I was getting at. I pointed out that if it had of been taken care of in the first place we would still have it in years to come! It’s their own fault for letting it go to ruin. It’s disgusting with that derelict shed attached to it. There are far more important things in life to worry about that bricks and mortar. That building is not important compared to the GPO, the Custom House, the High Court…. There are trees growing out the top of it! I think we should let go. That is just my opinion and I can accept that we all have different ones.

Knock it, it’s an eyesore. If it had of been maintained in the first place it wouldn’t be on it’s way out.

Can you describe the site? Is there a crane on it? Has anything at all been built on it yet or is it just flat land at the moment?

by the way, does anyone know what they are building across from liffey valley? is it a laboratory of some kind? the builders access the site form the small road leading to the king’s hospital.

Yeah, what’s this I wonder? So much building work going on in this area. The sign that’s up showing the end result doesn’t say what the building will be used as???? Any other comments please? It is a very large building.

    What’s this?

The building proposed is over 40 storeys in height and is to be built in the Inchicore/Ballyfermot/Cherryorchard area. There was some talk about it a few months back. I don’t have any pictures though and I don’t know whether it is still going ahead or not. Sorry for not being able to mention the exact area for the proposal. Maybe someone else can explain better. It does seem like a funny area to place such a tall building.

That makes sense to me. Everybody talks about what goes on in our cities. It is nice to see people talking about what’s happening in our towns too. I see Dublin/Cork/Limerick/Derry/Belfast and so on get a mention. I guess these are not the only places that exist in Ireland. As for McDonalds, Lucan now has two of them. From what I can tell Maynooth would have the population for these things and I know that Supermacs is already there. I have passed through it. McDonalds would be good competition. Maynooth is also very close to Dublin. I hear talk of extending the Dart out there.

Is the highrise at Royal Canal Park really going up? If so, when is it due to start? The cranes in that area at the moment are far to small to build such a tall building.

has constuction started on tara street? i recall someone here saying it has, and it ihas “approved” status on skyscrapernews.com, is it the same proposal or have a few floors been chopped off for the sake of sunlight?

I wouldn’t pay any attention to that website. Several proposals that have been made for Dublin/Ireland don’t even get a mention there. For example, the 41 storey building proposal in South County Dublin along with a few others.

Sounds good. I’ll have to take a look someday. I wish I had that on my doorstep.

Here is a highrise that has never been mentioned before yet nobody will really pass any comments on it or answer the questions put to them! I am surprised. My own opinion is that it should be built. Ireland could do with a few more highrises. That area seems ok for a highrise to me. Is it being built or what???

What do you mean Thomond? I too am able to access the link. It is interesting. I would love to see another highrise go up. It would bring a bit of life to a once dead area. The stuff that has gone up so far at Royal Canal Park is terrible though. The highrise “seems” to be a little bit better. 😉

I think those plans look dead boring. Why is it that we can’t build anything decent these days? People that built buildings all over the world including Ireland hundreds of years ago did way better than we do today. I am not impressed with that one bit at all.
