I thought Molly was real ๐Ÿ™

You can’t compare the Spike to the likes of Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, etc. It’s just a flag pole with no flag on it.

Agreed, I would like to see a very dark green. Isn’t this the colour it was originally?

Check out the original signage with the old IE logo.

    Tada! Gone.

I think it really adds to the skyline down there.

Are they still going to build it higher than originally planned?

This is better quality and more up-to-date than the DigitalGlobe imagery above.

Just imaging driving a motorbike up and down the streets at 8 in the morning. 100 miles an hour, wrong way down the street, or on the pavement. I have to do that some Christmas morning.

    Merry St. Stephens day.

Running down Dame Street naked would be infinitely more enjoyable ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Were you using a tripod for these or are you just off the booze these days?

The Henery Street lights work very well with the lamp posts.

That last shot is very nice too ๐Ÿ™‚

    “political will”.. that’s the problem.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great idea and I’d love to see it happen, but realistically, our government wouldn’t have to balls to undertake such a large project.

Poor little shivering, defenceless lamb ๐Ÿ™

Right lads, bring on the cables! ๐Ÿ˜€

College Green is my favourite part of Dublin, a beautiful spot of the city. However, we have to move forward with our public transport system. It so happens that College Green is one of the most important arteries through the city. Trams through here are meant ot be as it’s the most logical route for pubic transport. Private fehicles will inevitable be banned from this area anyway.

Graham, do you admit to the fact that trams will HAVE to come through here at some stage over the next decade? It’s going to happen whether you like it or not. With that in mind, route A is the most logical route to connect line A & B.

    Poor lamb.

    It’s NOT feasible.

Dublin port is much larger, compact, and more complicated than Helsinki port. It’s well over twice the size as Helsinki Port.

    Dublin

    Helsinki

About 40% of Helsinki Port is open space for 40ft containers. The rest is taken up with large factories and warehouses. Relocating these facilities wouldn’t be all that difficult.

Dublin port is a different story. A lot of the port has discharging facilities for oil, chemicals and petroleum with an intricate network of pipe lines. There’s also a slight matter of a large power plant and Dublin’s state-of-the-art sewage plant. There’s is no way these could be relocated. The costs of relocating these facilities would be astronomical.

Also bear in mind that the Dublin Port Company is in the planning stages of reclaiming 21 hectares of land in order to expand the port.

Progressive Democrats – nice try, but no cigar.

We already blew it with the docklands.. what makes this any different? It will just be another IFSC-type business park!

You cannot have horizontal black cables crossing a crisp white building composed of sweeping columns – you just can’t.

I just don’t think it will be as bad as you say, Graham.

Have a look at these pictures of the Parliament building in Melbourne. Might give you an idea of how it would look in College Gr.

I don’t understand why you lot are trying to justify the building of a new bridge when there’s ample space on O’Connell Bridge already. Route B just seems like a complete waste of cash to be honest.

I’m fairly confident that route A will get the go ahead anyway.

I’d have to agree. A cheapo bridge arseways across the Liffey or a few wires across College Gr.. hmm.

You can forget about powering Luas via the tracks, it’s too expensive. A few cables across College Gr. really wouldn’t be that noticable. Those trees and other clutter will be removed over the next 4 years with the rejuvination plan.

Trams should return to College Green where they rightfully belong.
