Great that the minister showed up! 2 points ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now if we can only get John Parkin as a consultant for a bicycle parking study of Dublin/St Stephens green/metro stations and bicycle strategy for Dublin to be implemented as legislation

what are the odds??? these two can do some talking….

Well I can start by asking you to please be a bit more realistic.

agreed lots of things unrealistic!!!! but its nice to get the crayons out!!!!

to create a visual link with custom house and the liffey assuming we pulled down the loop line.. and to provide a wide link road for a luas or bus route that would avoid lots of lights right hand turns ect
hawkins st is so narrow and I don’t want a temporary bridge and custom house has 2 good exit roads….

The main idea of this is to show what public space is being created like college green I mean can you imagine more buses noise pollution its just mad… The transport links at college green can be broken it will be a better space with no major criss crossing same for o’conell st bridge

    does that make more sense???

I’m not really widening any roads that I can think of except for the new one for custom house

I’m not demolishing any buildings except for the department of health!!! and some others on this axis

The car tunnel is just an idea I would prefer not to have it same as the car parking just to discuss

I don’t know why the department of environment DCC ask these guys to organize a world wide competition…

    http://www.irishlandscapeinstitute.com/

with what about 220,000 euro in prizes…

I used to cross this bridge every day and i’m in shock as to how bad the public realm is…
I have ideas but these won’t be until later!!!

    I’m very much a critic… and a cinic!!

Does westmoreland st need any more buses???

To have any faith in this idea we would need the following:

    – a competition open to any one with 5 million euros in prizes if you when they also have to bid for the idea
    – No temporary bridge for anything except people
    – 3000 bicycle spaces
    – 500 car spaces with no charge when capacity is below 20%
    – oconnell st bridge reduced to 4 lanes in total
    – no parking buses on the quays
    – west more land reduced to 2/3 lanes
    – college green to 2 lanes in total…

But all this means nothing unless it is intergrated with the metro design which appears to late….

    urgently not needed…

everyone will be catching the metro after this so this is a waste of money
oconnell st bridge should be limited to 4 lanes

Some people say dublin has enough rain water ect all ready.
This would not be a world class icon but would seriously enhance the public spaces as per the 13
celtic knots thread fountains that dance!!! The celtic knots would be the locations for these fountains and or lights.
Tourists would navigate by celtic knots and connect dots!
I think Dublin needs to enhance what it already has in terms of proper landscaping and car free/pole spaces.
The only chance it has to create an icon would almost have to be in the canals and time is quickly running out.
The other sad thing is just one company is directing most of these spaces.
    One track mind…

one of the buildings looks decent enough

but some of the images are worrying a 3rd architecture student could do 10 times better
or a 2nd year technician : ) I know 5 people in my second year class that did better airports than 2 of these terminals
