    Mr Jim Keogan, project manager for the HARP (Historic Area Rejuvenation Project) IAP, said an events manager had just been appointed to arrange a series of “compatible events” in Smithfield, including major concerts from next spring. He said 12 events had already been booked for the new civic space and the corporation was also hoping to develop a market there. The traditional monthly Smithfield horse fair had been accommodated, with much improved management.

    I disagree completeley with your statement “In the capital at the moment, mass amounts of urban renewal projects are underway on both sides of the Liffey. The architecture in Ireland is reaching such a level that it is becoming a figure head as one of the leading cities in Europe for architecture; and architecture that has the ability to inspire and influence rather than just another copy of a copy.”

    current architecture in Dublin is better ythan any stage in the recent past but its is not of a european standard and before anyone points out the award for smithfield, I think that was completely undeserved – the space is a disaster.

    This will never happen because

    * the locals will be up in arms about building heights

    * the locals will be up in arms about no jobs for them and an influx of non-locals

    * the locals

    I’m entitled to my opinions that

    * the colours are nasty
    * the sites tired and poor quality

    without it being an attack on the riai — rather it is an attack on the websites which in the past have been very unprofessional. The current one is better but the colours suck.
