ParticipantWorld class stadium and great design!! Pity that the capacity of the stadium is just 50,000, would of liking to see 60,000 capacity at the stadium. I know height was an issue but if they positioned the stadium to a more central location of site they would be able for 60,000 capacity. One side of stadium very low but if it was positioned centrally away from houses or turn 90 degrees it would reach 60,000+ capacity. Still like the plan, i know they need a bit of open space at the site Ah well:p

I’m happy somethings being built to the left of the point but really only 7 storeys. 🙁 is it not time to break the monotony of the 7-10 story blocks along the North Quays? maybe something a little bit taller. And it’s so far from the Historic core of the city, there’s no way An Taisce could reasonably object
I was expecting more height from this development, but its got planning permission 3848/07 with 20+ conditions attached to the development. Very bad black and white photos on dublin city council(oldies). Architect is hjlyons. This was prior to ddda decision for 20 storeys in the docks. Maybe they might apply for new application!!!!!??

its anglo irish banks new HQ, not AIBs Both BOI and AIB are planning on conslidating there back offices on one site. Given the number of permises both are currently in this will require 2 big buildings probably high rise
Got confused! Yes its Anglo Irish Bank HQ. Now i hear the deal might be in jeopardy.

ParticipantIm a bit of a high rise addict but i agree with qunter!!! Its a breath of fresh air, its a majestic plan which will be great for the area. The plan for the area makes a change from extreme high rises, which we dont need in SOME areas. The architects know what there doing alright, when you have an experienced architect working on a project of this propotion its makes a difference. At least most people are agreeing that this plan is great compared to other threads!!!!!:D

ParticipantGreat news. Hope this will give a confidence boost to other high profile developments in the docks.:D:D:D

ParticipantBy looking at the plan they are going to take over 50% of bus depot for future expansion. When looking at the maps for the site they have plenty of land for future expansion why the bus depot?? But its really a great plan, the views of the city from the high rises is great. the development would just blend in with the city.:D

Participant15,14 and 10 storey buildings is the only high rise. Looks like a great plan, architecture looks brilliant!:D. architects website http://www.darmodyarchitects.com http://www.mryarchitects.com/index_centered.html. albion property building mixed use property on edge of development. very dull looking render!! a few more renders on websites.

ParticipantAnother project delayed as usual.
“Plans for a new tower to be built in the Dublin Docklands area have been halted by The Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA) and financial backer Geranger ltd in order to continue financial negotiations until the 31 October. Geranger ltd is compromised of Ballymore Properties, Patrick McKillen & August Partners and U2 Band members and management and was selected as the provisional bidder to design, construct and finance the €200 million U2 tower. Foster & Partners designed the 120 metre high tower with a public viewing platform, a hotel, retail and residential space including 20% social and affordable housing. The top of the tower will also have an egg shaped pod to house U2’s state of the art recording studio. The site of the tower will be located at the merging of three waterways, the River Liffey, River Dodder and Grand Canal. Construction is expected to begin in 2009.”
