    No.

Was aware of the general content of the 2000 Act pertaining to protected strructures, and the establishment of the ACA concept, but that is all.

    What is an ACA?

should this not be constricted to *completed* project only? From what I know about e.g. Wilson’s projects they deserve some recognition, but neither project has even cleared the planning process let alone begun construction. Sometimes things don’t impress in the flesh quite the way they do in photmontages.

    Very wise words.

As for leesiders comment thats a governent thing done to indicate that if your not near Dublin you wont recieve the same privliges as the pale.

I agree you Cork folks don’t have the privilage of two hour commutes, I’m sure it can be arranged.

Have theses people ever heard of the mid-Atlantic Rift?

Times Atlas of the World at P96 it is actually the Mid Atlantic Ridge which increases the height of the Ocean Floor. Given the native skill for placing structures on elevated and poorly drained sites I’m sure there were a few Irish engineers involved.

Does anyone know what they did with the front of the shop, has the front been restored to the original?

Those pictures illustrate the point I am making about the median. What is the point in putting in top quality paving if it is only going to be covered in poles and mopeds?

Has anyone used the new planning search system yet for Dublin? Its pretty dodgy the map search function images don’t seem to work and search by street system has a habit of overlooking applications unless you have the reference number.

Policing is what makes a city.

The kiosks will be next year at the earliest.

No one seems to use the new section of the boardwalk, well that is before the Sherrif St contingent.

Marlborogh St is a really depressing place and I think that when the cops cleared the junkies off O’Connell St a few years ago that most of them headed straight to Marlborogh St. The stretch between Talbot St and Abbey St must be the most rundown spot in Dublin. We should be nostalgic because this is what O’Connell St used to be like.

But are they going to sort the mess out or has the money been wasted?

So the median is a failure as I suspected recently myself. How much public money has been wasted on this paving fiasco?

Its a tricky one down there as all the buildings that surround it have brick elevations, if you look at the Westin where a geometric design was used that was half 1930’s and half contemporary it proves the point that it is a lot easier to work contemporary designs into clusters of stone facades than brick. The Stephens Green Hotel itself is a bit of a horror storey, its not too bad at ground level but look at how each storey gets progressively cheaper and nastier as it goes up. Pastiche brick from this gang is a huge improvement.

I love it ‘A hybred of styles’

In other words it will be as embarrasing as the Four Seasons Hotel which has not done done well and is converting rooms into private apartments.

‘it was decided that an architect would be needed for this phase of the project’

So Ireland is to get a thirteen storey tower that was not designed by a trained professional, I wonder did he design it himself?

‘it may not be everyones cup of tea’

An admission if ever I heard one that it is embarrassing

‘as Spar, Centra, Super Value and Mace have already snapped up all retailunits in the scheme’

    Serious retail players

Graham, is the lego reference yours or did it come attached?
