See according the Times recently that the original cost of this bridge was about 5 to 6 million……but it has run up to 20 million now. Someone somewhere is having a laugh. Just another example of the Rip-Off Culture.

What a rip off shit hole Ireland is …..everyone is out to rob you…..from the government to the publicans. What these c**nts do with all their money is beyond me …they certainly don’t spend it publicly either the tight fisted selfish robbing b*****ds. Shame on them all.

I see our leader aka the Taoiseach made a statement yesterday about trying to keep landprices etc…down …or something to that effect.
But is’nt it too bad then that the developers et all…. aka TDs, builders, landlords etc….are just blatent robbers….the over pricing of beneficial projects to this nation is ludicrous…..whether it be the National Stadium, the LUAS or housing for all. So much for the saying that the notion of Irish being great builders of Britain and America yet they neglect their homeland…milking every profit from the little isle. Jesus no wonder we have nothing of significance to show after receiving all those billions from the European taxpayer and despite bouyant revenues for the taxman aka Charlie McCreevy and especially when you still see a chronic health service and delapedated schools it proves that there is a serious haemorrage of funds. Where it is going nobody knows however.
So much then for aspiring to be something or someone as a nation …..we are what we are …..a small insignificant little country on the edge of Europe …a formal colony of Britain comprised of glorified peasants, peddlars and robbers.

Obviously Michael O Leary and Co don’t subscribe to Fianna Fail’s agenda else the terminal would be built with no bother with a couple of brown envelopes too along the way(allegedly)

Good article about the whole fiasco in the Irish Times today by the one and only Frank McDonald. Seemingly it looks like sour grapes on Aer Rianta’s behalf, trying to block Ryanair’s proposal by having their terminal built instead. Looking at the aerial plans/diagrams on the newspaper, Ryanair’s proposal looks more straightforward for aircraft docking and less fussy than Aer Rianta’s.

Defo….Silver is the new Brown….and has been for a long time…….as already said, nearly every car is silver…….Interiors are ‘Chrome’ …..aka…. tubular steel and pine as well as Wide Screen TV’s, Mobile phones, Hi Fi’s, Mini Disc’s, Walkmans, Fridges, etc, etc…..etc……everything is trendy post modern, pretentiously futuristic….will be all outta date when the next fashion fickle thing comes along. Are’nt people so stupid….really….. aka the general public.
Don’t forget yer trendy skin head, designer tatoos and Nazi like specs, combats and trainers, lipstick lesbians, …..oh and reality TV….a field day for Jean Paul Gaultier types.

Maybe I doubt if a young buck in architecture today can produce a significant and stylish landmark for this project.
Too many ‘Westlifes’ today ….a ‘U2’ heavy weight is required.
I hope then I am proved very much wrong and a new budding practice comes up with the goods that hit the right note.

I missed that programme ……..I kept up the tradition of being angerly drunkenly Irish……shameful too I know…..but I think it’s in our genes however. It took years and generations to form…it will take years and generations to filter out. Oh to be civilized!

Why not get Ghery or a big gun to design the tower….Ghery’s best work is happening today….he is an international star in architecture and what ever he does would inspire the cloth headed drones that we have produced in architecture to emulate him. Having big names in Dublin and Ireland would be an inspiration for all and give a lift to architecture in this somewhat parochial country ….can anyone not see that.
Again it will have to be built so as the penny will drop….then everyone will be jumping on the bandwagon…as is always the case.
Seeing is believing….as doubting Thomas once said.

Remember, the Irish are dirty too……….as stereotypes go.
Regarding terrorism it’s a laugh to see that the Republic of Ireland has no airforce to protect our emerald shores….we rely on the RAF across the water ….so much for Independance…..come on Man U and Liverpool…anyone see Coronation St. last night….Brits out by the way….such ironies!
Keeping to the point of architecture and civics did’nt St Patricks Day in Dublin , the capital city of Ireland go down well …….what a great success. Well done to the festival organisers and to mother nature for keeping the weather so good and sunny. It is a good basis to go by and it can only get better from now on…..how about having something for New Year’s Eve celebrations etc……
Also did’nt the backdrop (ie the buildings down the docks) to the fireworks look insignificant….a new emerging space in the city and it looks so bland….thanks to Peter Coyne and the DDDA. No chance of getting
Jean Michel Jarre and his lazer show to perform there.

Aye they should put paving slabs down on O’ Connell Street Bridge like what they did with Capel Street bridge and rip up that bloody awful cheap tar surface.

With all this confusion about two large buildings being built juxtaposed I think the best people to ask would be the DDDA as they have total control of how the dock’s will develop.

How about changing the use from offices to appartments………I’d bet they’d sell like hot cakes too. What a cool looking complex to live in.

Seemingly some c**nts in this country have to see the damned thing constructed before they realise how much of a benefit it will be to them.
The National Aquatic Centre opended today to great joy and rapture from the general public…..even the detrator of such benefits for the nation Joe Higgins aka Socialist Workers Party had to bite his tongue and admit it was good.

Very sad to see that all we have to show for the legacy of the Celtic Tiger in regards of public art and amenities is a Spire, a Swimming Pool and a delayed LUAS public transport system. Oh dear……where did all the billions of punts/Euro go…..maybe a tribunal is required!

…..don’t forget your domed roofs of cathedrals of old and your onion shaped domes of Tzarist Russia and the Arabian Middle East. Curves have always been prevalent in architecture….have’nt they!
It’s just today that with hi-tech etc…the boundaries can be pushed further making statements for the times we live in today.

It’s a stylish building that’s proposed for Sir John Rogerson’s Quay….is’nt it and similar to the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai. Let’s hope they build it. Dublin city is in need for landmarkish and notable structures.
