It looks plonked right in the middle of the housing estate.
Almost like a bad photoshop job of two images compiled.
If that obtrusive lump was removed from the roof it might’nt look so bad …see image attached.
The rendering of the sky in the original looks shite too like a bad Hollywood backdrop.

Anyone see the arty air spot light show… (aka Bat signal)….which kicked off last night on O’Connell Street as part of the celebrations for the accession of the new membership states to the EU.
An art installation designed by Rafael Lozano Hemmer, which involves the participation of the public to design the light constellations, it looked brilliant as it lit up the sky with the Spire amongst it all. People stood in awe. It should become somewhat of a permanent feature.

There is nothing really special about it is there, bar it being a welcoming few storeys taller than the rest of the shoeboxes in the surrounding area.

Clare County Council allegedly came across as corrupt…..aka allegedly Liam Lawlor type of syndrome.

The Trim Castle/hotel debacle is just pure ignorant vandalism!
What a magnificent castle it is.

Ah come on folks ….lay off Dublin. It is the Capital city of Ireland after all, so have a little respect for it. We’ve only had this boom for the last few years, the wealth is filtering down. Dublin has always been resented by those outside the pale. Such resentment was manifest in rural TD’s who were appointed as TD’s for Dublin and almost ran the city into the ground. Jesus, this city has had and still has the most chronic unemployment, drug ridden, vandalized, disadvantaged blackspots. It is only getting on it’s feet now. Maybe if people had more respect for urban values etc…and change their anti-Dublin mindset to that of having respect for the Capital such an outlook would be reflected in their own localities.

Does n’t the area in front of the GPO which is now almost complete look absolutely great, especially now that the foilage is opening on the trees. What great vision and urban planning here and what a brilliant public space that has been created. It has given this part of the street an air of dignity, solemnity and style too. It will be a great location for holding any official events, commemerations, parades or pageants etc…
What a superb job and money well spent!

Sir Dessie should be more concerned about the dilapidated condition of a lot of Georgian buildings rather than the views.
This is far more a cause for concern!

I agree……for all the money spent on that Punchestown glorified shed, it looks to have been designed by a gerry builder. It ‘s even too small to fullfill the requirements for holding international horse jumping events. It looks bloody awful too.

Please will they build Kevin Roches Conference Centre to set some sort of a precedent for the gombeens.

Your dead right FIN as with your previous opinions of those stupid old Georgian buildings up in Dublin that should be pulled down, the countryside is there to be fully abused… err, I mean used …lets get those sprawling suburban housing estates built in the burren and the bogs. Let’s get that road through the Hill of Tara too. I do hope they will build that incinerator down there by the lakes of Killarney and a much needed landfill site for Dublin would be a welcome there too.

Jasus , but you really do come across as being very young and naive FIN!
Start reading those architecture, history and environmental books.

Would be a brilliant location for a roof top restaurent, as it was once before, I think.
Any entrepreneurs out there with lots of money and ideas?

Jaypers …don’t speak too loud of them. If word gets out that they may be demolished and the Green Party hear of it they’ll be up there barricading themselves in.

I saw them in the Indo on Wednesday….kind of a funky make over for the both, moreso the EBS. Better than the black glass I suppose and the end of Sam Stephenson’s mark.

Good on ye Mary Guiney!…..any relation to Michael down Talbot Street?

As O’Connell Street is starting to take shape and look great is’nt it only a pity that it’s not finished or even half finished for St Partick’s day tomorrow and especially as we hold the Presidency of the EU at the mo. Could have been a showpiece for the city and country…..alas not, but remains a building site!
