ParticipantIt ‘s really annoying to see Belfast a city one third the size of dublin building taller buildings, residential and commercilal. Just today I saw apartment blocks 15 stories high for sale in Belfast. this is the height that all the ugly 8 floor buildings should be around Grand canal docka and accross the water around the point. It’s a waste of space. Up Up.

ParticipantI work across the water from this building. Now and again you can see squatters moving around on the roof! I’ve heard there are raves there on occasion. A generator is brought in. Also, wouldn’t the larger building make a great screen for outdoor cinema. Miller projected an ad onto the wall a few years ago. ๐

ParticipantWill Dermot Desmond ask for his name somewhere. Honestly, this theatres needs to be in the city, not on a business campus. this is art, it is theatre. Its for Irish people. Put it in the city centre. This is about real life, not a vanity project for billionaires. And Bank CEO’s. And foolish old vain men in general. Give it back to the young and the vibrant. To the streets.

Participantget it onto o’connell street. create a cafe, restaurant, book shop to bring people in (footfall) make it opena nd attarctive as opposed to a closed theatre during the day.
If the Docklands gets go ahead i hope it’s a democratic and welcoming addition to an area that feels like the preserve of people, who have more interest in golf and hard dough than Brecht or O’Casey. I wonder what Yeats would make of it?

ParticipantI feel the proposed Sisk development is too big, too high and too boring. I like the look of the alternative. seems more community based and people friendly. ๐

Participantgood article. however what annoyed me was the inaccuracy of his info so early on. The danes didn’t invade Irteland. the vikings were mostly Norwegian. Ask any Dane…

ParticipantYou’re all a bit behind on this one. construction started months ago.You can’t miss it as you drive up the avenue on your left. I livenearby e and I heard nothing about it until I spotted it like a UFO in the trees. How they got planning permission is a mystery. However, since it is being built and nothing can stop it now, I hope they do their utmost to keep it hidden in the trees on the avenue. A Hotel Built by rich knobs for rich knobs. ๐
