apologies bunch. good point. there is a large demand from those urbanites wanting to relocate however it benefits the smaller communities if they do. more people around then more money or so the economics say anyway. there is no real stragety which i guess this was trying to do before the elections next month. keep the local punters happy kinda thing.
the housing strageties for small towns for these particular urbanites is the only senisible answer but then again how does one distuinguish between them.

how do you see this exactly. how does it affect those people who do live in urban ireland other than the view when the flash by in their cars to holiday retreats in rural ireland!

that point is valid if speaking of moving everyone into towns etc. i can’t see it working for people who work the land building on their land.

i’m sorry…no-one should be claiming ownership. do u own your own house? if u do then do you not claim ownership. why should it be any different . they own the land from actually paying for it. i know this whole notion of once you pay for something you own it may have some opposition in a communist society but we haven’t got that far yet.

i found euro-sports highlights to be rather one-sided. it seems it was a major shock that a nation from the six-nations championship had the gall to go there and win. of course there was reference to 1966(they seem to mention that at every available time even though different sports ) and the fact scotland beat england after that particular tournament win. de-facto world champions i think was the quote. and re scotland with the big 2 having lots of foreigners the scottish national side is reduced to picking from the others and the various english teams.

i think so alan. not about sinn fein but about the realities of one off housing cos we are classed as “from the country” no matter what from west brits so our opunion is completely differnent. people from dublin cannot visualise the problems as all they know is the urban existance they live in.

ahhhhh! it would be a sticky point. as i said before if u were selling it on then it becomes an issue or renting as this case is but if it’s ur private house then strictly speaking it doesn’t have to comply with part m. kinda like they can’t make u put a downstairs w/c in but it’s part of the regulations

ooops forgot to say.. possibly it may be an issue with insurances companies looking for architect’s certs and all that and certainly be an issue with the bank mortgage wise if u were building it that way as no certs = no money.

slightly. agree with some points ur making but if someone has the benefit of daddy owning farm land then it’s his/her right to build on it. of course not at the expense of others.

personally i think those stair s look very nice and bugger the regulations. however there may be problems in certifying the building and in selling it off later. these are the thing u need to consider and an engineer should be able to considerably cheaper than that. good luck in that.

indeed! “free state” architecture wasn’t supposed to instill fear and domination into a minority population.
